Happy 2nd Birthday to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital!
Officially opening on the 2nd of October, 2015, It’s been two years since the new Alder Hey Children’s Hospital opened it’s doors and began welcoming in staff and patients. The state-of-the-art facility, based in Liverpool, is the only hospital in Europe to be built in a park – one of the many features in which the patients and staff are able to enjoy. Costing £237m in total, the facility also boasts a low-carbon footprint and low energy use, with 60% of the energy needed to run the hospital being generated on-site. Every year, the hospital cares for over 270,000 children and families and hopes to help even more families, with the opening of the Alder Hey Centre.
It was recently announced that Alder Hey Children’s Hospital is to expand, with the introduction of an on-site bereavement centre. The build is set to include therapy facilities, recreational space and several holistic rooms – each with a view of the communal garden. Full design details can be found via the Alder Hey website.
Engaged by Crown House Technologies and Laing O’Rourke, Cleartech provided HVAC commissioning and water treatment services on Alder Hey Children’s Hospital (full scope can be found here). We formed an integral part of the project team and are particularly delighted to have been part of this one-of-a-kind build.
