Project: Marriott Courtyard Hotel, Edinburgh

Cleartech Group Ltd were engaged by Polcom Modular to carry out HVAC commissioning and water treatment at the new Marriott Courtyard Hotel in Edinburgh. The hotel, which is located on Heriot Watt University campus, is situated next to the Oriam, Scotland’s sports performance centre. The hotel itself is centred around sport and hosts amenities such as; synthetic pitches, 12-court sports hall, five outdoor grass football pitches and two grass rugby pitches, as well as, eight squash courts, two exercise studios and a four-court sports hall. The top floor of the four-storey building is aimed specifically at teams of sportsmen and women and includes large twin rooms, private meeting spaces and specialised treatment ares for physio and rehab. Other hotel facilities include an open plan restaurant, bar, marketplace and informal lounge area.
The hotel was built using a technique which consists of slotting seperate module rooms together – all of which were shipped from Poland, ready-made with decorations and furniture intact inside. Cleartech are proud to play a part in this innovative build, along with new clients, Polcom.

Cleartech’s Approach
Our domestic water services chlorination include cleaning and chlorinating all associated installation hot and cold water services to BS8558. Our team of highly qualified engineers also took potable water samples from the systems, which were then taken and tested at a UKAS accredited laboratory – with results issued directly to the client.
Our scope of works also included carrying out a full pre-commission chemical clean, static flushing, dynamic flushing and dosing of corrosion inhibitor – all of which were conducted in accordance with BSRIA BG 29/2012 Pre-commissioning Cleaning of Pipework Systems. HVAC commissioning works included water and ventilation balancing of systems, as instructed by the client, and carried out as per C.I.B.S.E code ‘A’ and ‘W’.
