Cleartech Group Ltd were engaged by Crown House Technologies and Laing O’Rourke to complete the HVAC commissioning and water treatment works at NHS Forth Valley Royal Hospital, in Larbert, Falkirk. The flagship hospital, which cost approximately £300 million to build, is one of the biggest construction projects in Scotland. Our contract was valued at £1 million at completion of Phase 3, before handing the building over to our clients – one month ahead of schedule.

Cleartech created a service package to meet the requirements set out by the client and project specifications, this included:
- Cleaning & sterilization of CWST’S & all associated hot & cold water services
- External MCW Chlorination & testing
- RPZ Valve Commissioning
- Water testing and dosing top-up of chilled water systems
- Commissioning Management
Cleartech’s Approach
Cleartech delivered HVAC commissioning and water treatment services to NHS Forth Valley Royal Hospital, within budget and ahead of schedule. Our role involved the planning, co-ordination and delivery of our services, as well as, managing all other aspects of building services commissioning. Work began on the hospital, built on a 360 hectare site on the grounds of the former Royal Scottish National Hospital, in May of 2007. It was delivered in three phases, and included 860 inpatient and day beds and a full range of acute hospital services, including a mental health facility and a women and children’s unit. Alex Salmond, the First Minister at the time, carried out the opening ceremony in April 2009 and the first patients began moving into the building in the Summer of 2010.
All materials, installations and commissioning methods, used by Cleartech, are in accordance with The British Regulations, EEC or British Standards, British Standards Institute Codes of Practise CIBSE commissioning Codes and, where appropriate, with the recommendations contained in the NHS Estates current published Health Building Notes and Health Technical Memoranda.
