Cleartech Group Ltd recently carried out commissioning management, HVAC commissioning and water treatment services, at Boroughmuir High School, for JBE. The new non-denominational school, in Edinburgh, has welcomed approximately 1,160 pupils, since moving from its current site in Viewforth to the new build in Fountainbridge. This new school, designed by Allan Murray Architects and built by main contractor O’Hare & McGovern, will accommodate more sports facilities and includes a roof-top games area.

Project Overview

Scope of Works:

  • Cleaning & chlorination of new installation hot & cold water services
  • Commissioning Management
  • Potable water samples tested at UKAS laboratory
  • Full pre-commission chemical clean, static flushing, biocide wash & dynamic flushing
  • Dosing of corrosion inhibitor
  • Water & ventilation balancing of systems, complete with final report

 

Cleartech’s Approach

Our full scope of works includes; cleaning and chlorination of new installation hot and cold water services to BS8558 Specification. Multiple potable water samples are to be taken and tested at a UKAS accredited lab and results will, subsequently, be issued to the client. We are carrying out a  full pre-commission chemical clean, static flushing, biocide wash, dynamic flushing and dosing of  corrosion inhibitor, fully in accordance with BSRIA BG 29/2012 Pre-commission Cleaning of Pipework Systems. The estimated water content of the LTHW heating installation is 10,000 litres and the estimated water content of the CHW installation is 3,500 litres.

Our HVAC commissioning works include; carrying out water and ventilation balancing of systems, as dictated by the project specification. All works are carried out as per C.I.B.S.E code ‘A’ and ‘W’, complete with final report. The systems comprise of pumps, commissioning sets, AHUs, fans, VAVs, S grilles, Ex grilles, TMVs and TBVs. The responsibilities of the commissioning manager consist of; overseeing and assisting with the coordination of all commissioning works, completing commissionability reports on all systems to be balanced and advise, to pre-commission systems in order to ensure they are ready for on-site operatives and to witness all systems once fully commissioned/balanced and to ensure it is of acceptable level as per C.I.B.S.E code ‘A’ and ‘W’, as well as, all relevant BSRIA Guidelines.
